Doug Wingo brings 27 years of experience in raising money for a wide variety of organizations and an understanding of fundraising as a form advocacy, a tool for creating community and social and cultural change. He focuses on the role relationship-building and communication plays in successful fundraising and has brought his extensive experience to play in creating and implementing successful, systematic development and donor communication campaigns designed to increase and diversify income for organizations just getting off the ground to those that have been around for decades. Doug began his career at well-endowed institutions such as Harvard, St. Thomas Church in New York City and Brown, then during the early years of the epidemic he served as Development Director for Rhode Island Project AIDS and the People With AIDS Coalition. His last staff position was at the American Foundation for AIDS Research, where he focused exclusively on major gifts development around the country. In 1996, Doug founded Wingo, Inc., where he has worked with and advised over 50 local, national and international non-profit organizations. He is a coach and mentor to board and staff members and regularly leads trainings and workshops on fundraising. The fundraising studio grows out of his experience as a painter and a writer, with degrees from both the College of William and Mary and the Harvard Divinity School.
